Frank Lloyd Wright Inspiration

LOCATION: Scarborough

OVERVIEW: Renovations are very personal, this one even more so – as our client decided to move back into the house he grew up in. The first and second floors were renovated and an additional 1,037 sq ft. was added to the home. The every-day living space at the back of the home includes a large kitchen with custom built cabinetry, ideal for entertaining. The front of the home has a large, in-home office, as well as a craft room. The home was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, a well recognized architect from the early 1900s. Kitchen accent tiles and hardwood floors with matching stained wood-trim were included. New thermal windows and doors were provided throughout. The bathroom was inspired by an island in the Grenadines which the homeowners love!

FEATURES: The top of the kitchen island is made of concrete with colourful glass pieces contained within. Soapstone counter tops were added in the kitchen and bathrooms. Imported subway tiles were used in the master ensuite, a skylight was added in the walk-in closet and unique framing over the garage provides the master bedroom with warm floors. All millwork was completed with ¼ sawn white oak, foundation and the addition were completed with insulated concrete forms (ICF).
