Master Edge Cares
At Master Edge Homes, we believe a home should be a place of peace and tranquility. It is for this reason we are proud supporters of Yellow Brick House, a charity that provides shelter and counselling services for homeless and battered women and their children.
Our support for worthy organizations doesn’t end there. When we were introduced to 100+ Women Who Care Markham, we realized this was an organization that would represent not only our values, but the values of our clients as well. The mission of this organization is simple – to raise $10,000 every three months and distribute the funds to a given charity. We were very inspired by this idea, so we decided to match the donations made by our clients who are also members of 100+ Women Who Care Markham.
This past year, 100+ Women Who Care Markham helped support the following organizations:
Noah’s Clubhouse – Noah’s Clubhouse is a charity with the purpose of relieving some of the challenges associated with disability by providing financial assistance to families with children with special needs. Founder, Brigitte, is the proud mother of identical twin boys, Nicholas and Noah. Her son Noah had severe cerebral palsy and is the inspiration for the creation of Noah’s Clubhouse. Her heart is set on making a difference in the lives of families with children living with special needs. https://noahsclubhouse.org/
Children’s Wish Foundation – In early February 2019 the membership chose Children’s Wish as the recipient of the donations for the first quarter of 2019. Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is the largest and only all-Canadian wish granting charity dedicated to granting wishes to Canadian children between the ages of 3 and 17 who are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. For more than 30 years, Children’s Wish has worked tirelessly to grant heartfelt wishes to more than 25,000 children and their families – that’s three wishes each and every day, all year long! MOBYSS – In November 2018 the membership chose MOBYSS as the recipient of the donations for the last quarter of 2018. MOBYSS (Mobile York South Simcoe) is Ontario’s first mobile health clinic for youth who are 12 to 25 years of age. MOBYSS is a ground-breaking clinic that travels to areas across York Region and South Simcoe where youth have difficulty accessing services because of travel, stigma, and other barriers. MOBYSS is staffed with a nurse practitioner, youth counsellor and peer support specialist. MOBYSS provides medical, sexual and mental health care seven days a week. MOBYSS is committed to providing holistic, compassionate and youth-centered mental health services such as counseling, support and referrals. Our Youth Mental Health Workers and Peer Support Specialists are skilled in assisting youth with issues around depression and anxiety, substance use, suicide risk, bullying, harm and risk reduction, issues unique to LGBTQ youth, as well as many other aspects around mental health and illness. Markham Food Bank – In August 2018 the membership chose the Markham Food Bank as the recipient of the donations. These donations were used towards the purchase of a refrigerator to provide healthy, perishable items to those in need. The Markham Food Bank works to alleviate food insecurity for Markham community members. They strive to create a welcoming environment of fairness and equality for everyone who walks through their doors. For more information please visit http://markhamfoodbank.ca/
We are thrilled to be supporting such wonderful causes, and look forward to our continuing relationship.
Caring outside 100+ Women Who Care…
We believe a home should provide comfort and joy. Knowing this is often (too often) a luxury many (too many) women and children do not enjoy, we support Yellow Brick House. In November 2018, we were happy to support our client and friend Tami and Chris, along with their son, as they “Walked a Mile in Her Shoes” to raise money for the Yellow Brick House.
Meliza, who is afraid of heights, volunteered to raise money for Easter Seals by propelling down an office tower. We were happy to support both Meliza and Easter Seals!
Sick Kids is undergoing a 12-year renovation, and we’re happy to help out! We’re monthly donors. While it’s not in our neighbourhood, we know many Markham residents have been treated in this world-class hospital. Making lives a little easier, and renovations… That’s what we do!
